Below is a list of typical clichés that have been found throughout the years of Hanfic. Our goal is to make a list of as many of these clichés as possible, and include them in a modern day Hanfic. Please skim through the list, and if you can think of any that are missing, submit them at the bottom of the page and we will add it to the list of items to include.

NOTE: The items that have been crossed out have been used in the story.

- one word, catchy title
- title of fic or individual chapters named after song titles (usually Hanson tracks.)
- some or all of the story is written in 1997
- girl lives next door to Hanson and falls in love with one of the brothers
- this girl becomes Hanson’s BFF and they are all lifelong friends so much so that their parents are even best friends
- the BFF or Hanson is somehow betrayed by one another and jealousy fuels drama
- there are always girlfriends for the brothers– one girl per guy
- these “girlfriends” always have really crazy, unique names and eccentric personalities
- they will have some sort of extreme flaw that draws Hanson to them; one girl will be the normal lovable stereotype tall skinny blonde, the other a druggie/cutter that needs saving, and the third will be one that is beautiful and full of herself- one girl character is always anorexic or bulimic
- these girls or “girlfriends” are usually in the music business too either being executive types or in a band themselves
- the two groups (Hanson and the girls) have to move in together in their own apartment in a big city away from home
- there could be ex boyfriend and/or girlfriend drama and jealousy as in one of the girls has a boyfriend that just won’t let go of her even after they’ve split and threatens one of the brothers
- one girl has parents that are dead so she was adopted into the life she now leads but it is a sore subject for her to discuss
- there could be envious fan girls that try and break them all up or cause internet/public drama that could ruin their reputations
-one of the brothers will meet a girl in the audience at one of their shows
- someone is a virgin
- someone gets pregnant or has a pregnancy scare
- numerous drunken, party scenes are a must
- playing truth or dare or some other game where making out ensues- maybe a rape scenario happens where someone is rescued
- one of the boys, most likely Taylor, will be a slut/sex fiend
- Taylor is the screwed up heartthrob, Zac is the young, comedic savior, and Isaac is the boring, fatherly type that is rarely mentioned and usually forgotten
- the girls will somehow go on tour with the guys either because they work for them or are in another band and that is how they get to know one another
- two of the brothers fall for the same girl, or two girls fall for the same brother
- one of the brothers will sleep with a random girl after a concert
